Finally! Whatsapp Lets You Disable The Blue Ticks Feature

Heartbeats stopped, Twitter exploded and relationships ended when Whatsapp launched their blue ticks feature. This feature let senders see when their message had been read. What it meant was that users could no longer ignore messages or lie that they didn't check Whatsapp. While everyone exploded and vented online, Whatsapp did some damage control. The next update which comes nearly 2 weeks after the blue ticks were launched lets users disable the blue ticks feature. Wondering how to do it? Here's how:

Download the APK file to hide blue ticks on whatsapp plus

As the new version is still under testing and hasn't been rolled out, you'll have to restrict yourself to downloading the APK file directly from Whatsapp website and running it on your phone. Before downloading the APK file, please check that you have enabled the 'Download from Unknown Sources' setting on your phone.

Install the new app
Once you've downloaded the new file, transfer it to your phone and run the app.

Choose 'Settings'
Under your new Whatsapp, go to 'Settings' and then choose the 'Accounts' option.

Change 'Privacy'
Under 'Accounts' you'll see an option titled 'Privacy'. Click on Privacy and you'll have another option titled 'Read Receipts'. Once you click on 'Read Receipts', you'll be able to disable the blue ticks.

However, please remember that once you deactivate the feature, while the person who sends you the messages won't be able to see whether you read them or not, neither will you be able to see whether your friends have read the messages you sent. Moreover, the feature is not yet applicable to groups. You'll still be able to see the blue ticks whenever all the members of the group read the message. Biggest bummer? If you're a non-Android Whatsapp user, the wait for you is longer as the blue ticks can be disabled only on the Android version currently. Sorry, Apple fanboys.
